Band Resaws Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is a band resaw and what is it used for?
-
Band Resaws are designed for ripping timber to size. The process can also be achieved on a circular rip saw, but the Band Resaw offers a number of advantages; faster feed rate, smaller saw kerf (blade thickness) results in less waste, power fed operation reduces risk to operator, deeper depth of cut can general be achieved. A Band Resaw works on similar principles to a narrow band saw. However the blades on a Band Resaw are wider and the material is fed through the machine by means of a power feed unit.

What blades do I need for a Band Resaw?
-
Band Resaw blades are generally 50mm in width or larger. The term Swage refers to tooth tip distortion achieved by light grinding and side dressing of the teeth. Normally blade life for a Band Resaw is 5‐7 hours when processing softwood.
